The filmmakers faced a huge task of creating hundreds of Santa's elves for this festive comedy caper starring Vince Vaughn.
"Santa's Toyshop was an interesting challenge" notes Director, David Dobkin. "It was important that the elves be played by real people. It is a movie about the human spirit, so I didn't want to diminish that theme.“
A Russian circus troupe consisting of 32 little people perfectly fit the bill. Mocap technology was used to duplicate the actors and render a number of unique-looking elves to fill the scenes by digitally altering their appearance.
