Other
film involvement to date
includes 'Chronicles
of Narnia: Prince Caspian'
the second instalment in the
fantasy franchise based on
Lewis's bestselling
children's novels.
Capturing horses, dwarves
and creating half human,
half horse 'centaurs' for
the great battle scenes was
no problem for our motion
capture team who took their
expertise on location for
the week long shoot.
' Prince
Caspian proved to be our
most complex
crowd project to date. One
of our big challenges was
hybrid creatures which
required complex motion
editing.
Audiomotion stepped up to
the creative task, refining
the solution until our
client was happy with some
truly exciting sequences.'

Brains is back - with a
little help from Audiomotion
and post-production company,
The Mill.
Performing to the 90's dance
anthem 'Rhythm is a Dancer',
it's hard to believe that
these spectacular moves are
not down to Brains' natural
rhythmic ability
alone but a combination of
motion captured dance moves
and live action puppeteering
blended with 3d
animation.
The end result? A truly

One
of the biggest challenges
for New Line Cinema, the
studio behind the Lord of
the Rings trilogy, was
creating hundreds of
characters for the giant
battle scenes.
Audiomotion’s motion
capture expertise was used
to create "digital extras"
for the climatic battle
scenes and the 'gyptian'
crew.
Using
a replica of the gyptian
ship, using rigging from the
Cutty Sark restoration
company, stunt men were
filmed in combat and the
images were replicated
hundreds of times.
Winner of Best Visual
Effects - 2008 Oscars.

An
epic adventure with
epic special
effects, 10,000 BC
took two and
a half years to make
and cost a cool
estimated $75million
- mainly on the
visual effects
alone.
To create the huge
pyramid scenes,
stunt men were
motion captured
diving off a huge
ramp, custom
designed and built
by our very own
Audiomotion hands.
And we didn't stop
there...
Creating the opening
action scenes in
which the hero
gets caught up in a
hunting net and
being dragged around
by a mammoth was
just another days
work for the
Audiomotion team -
and the result is
nothing short of
spectacular.

Following on with the ‘spray
more, get more’ campaign, a
new TV commercial shows
billions of scantily clad
beauties flocking to a beach
where a man is wildly
spraying himself with the
new ‘Click’ deodorant.
Audiomotion’s motion capture
expertise was called upon by
post-production company The
Mill, to capture the raw
data of girls running,
jumping, jostling with each
other, wading and climbing.
Contrary to the impression
given in the finished ad,
just three models were
recorded during the session.
Using Massive, armies of
girls were created to stream
across the various types of
terrain.
The final shot posed a
particular challenge and was
an impressive effect to
achieve. The task was
tackled by taking the
original plate and matching
in a matte painting eight
times the size of the shot –
creating an artificial
horizon. The 3D geometry was
added and the plate was
populated with over 100,000
CG girls.

The filmmakers faced a
huge task of creating a
realistic North Pole
experience complete with
hundreds of Santa's
elves.
"Santa's Toy Shop
was a really huge set
and it was an
interesting challenge
because we wanted to see
elves working in every
corner of it without
overusing CGI," notes
Director, David Dobkin.
"It was important to me
that the elves be played
by real people. It is a
movie about the human
spirit, so I didn't want
to diminish that theme.
I wanted each elf to be
unique, but grounded in
reality.“
T he filmmakers found a Russian
circus troupe consisting of 32 little people who perfectly fit the bill.
Having access
to that many actors, the
visual effects team then
used motion capture technology to duplicate
the actors and render a
sufficient number of
unique-looking elves to
fill most scenes by
digitally altering their
appearance.
